Homeschool Mondays

As a homeschooling Mom of 3, just starting into my 2nd year, I wanted to start this new weekly Post for all of you homeschoolers out there and me! I will be posting homeschool tips, deals on curriculum, organization helps, schedule hints, etc. every Monday morning. If you have any helpful tips, please comment. If I get enough comments and people interested in this weekly post, I will start a Mister Linky so that you can post on your blog and link to mine.

This week I will just let you know what we're using for curriculum this year. I have a 1st grader, a preschooler, and a toddler. This is our curriculum of choice:

1st Grade Daughter
Preschool Daughter
Toddler Son
  • Puzzles :)
  • Hopefully he'll behave and stay out of trouble... haha
Please comment and tell me what you're using for curriculum, or your style of homeschooling, and the reason you like what you're using! My hope is that we can help each other and be an encouragement to one another.

Tylenol / Motrin Coupons

Does anyone else have this scenario?

I have 3 Tylenol Coupons in my stash right now that seemingly could all stack together toward 1 purchase of an 80 ct. Tylenol. Since I'm new to this, I would love your insight on whether you think this would work at my local Publix? What's your experience with your Publix?? FYI, mine takes competitor coupons.

Here's what I have in Coupons:
  • 1 - MFG Q Save $1.00 off any Tylenol product (from 7/27 SmartSource) - Print yours HERE.
  • 1 - Publix Q Save $2.00 off any Tylenol or Motrin iB 20 ct. or larger (from Smart Summertime Savings booklet)
  • 1 - Walgreens Q Save $2.00 off Tylenol (80 ct. or 100 ct.) or Motrin (100 ct.) (from 7/27 Walgreens newpaper insert)
I'm thinking I can save $5.00 off 1 bottle of 80 ct. Tylenol! I don't know what my Publix is selling this item at right now, but what a discount, right?!

HERE'S THE SCOOP!

Here's the "Scoop", so you stay in the loop on all the best deals out there!

I noticed on Food Lion's coupon website that they often offer coupons on Food Lion brand items, so I asked the Assistant Manager at Publix today to see if they would take these coupons for Publix brand items. After checking with his Manager, he came back telling me that they will indeed take these coupons!! So, be sure to print out as many store specific coupons as you need and remember to use them at Publix.

If you don't already know, Publix accepts all competitor coupons including $/$$ (i.e. $3/$15 purchase at CVS).

That's your Scoop 'd' Loop for the day!

Walgreens Coupons

I have just come across a wonderful Walgreens Rebate and Coupons Site. Since Walgreens is closer to where I live than CVS, it's usually more convenient for my hectic schedule with 3 kiddos. So, if I can get a deal, hopefully ya'll can too!! Plus remember that you can print these out and use them at Publix. For those of you who are new to this, Publix accepts competitor coupons, making them a preferred store on my list!

Click HERE for Walgreens Printable Coupons. Contains $718 worth of savings in this month's Catalog!! I stopped at Walgreens today, and their new Savings Booklet will be available by their entrance under their weekly flier tomorrow. (It's a skinny book full of coupons.)

While you're there, head back to the pharmacy and pick up this magazine for FREE (or a few copies) for coupons on diabetic items as well as Splenda (which we use daily in our house). Here's a pic of the Magazine to help you look for it:

Organizing Your Coupons

Some Great Information from A Full Cup!

Are you buried in coupons? Do coupons expire before you can use them simply because you’re unable to locate them? Do you get frustrated when you’re shopping and remember that you have a coupon for an item that’s on sale and you can’t find it?

Well if you’ve experienced any of these, here are some helpful organization ideas to help you take charge of your coupon madness.

Where can I keep all of my coupons?
  • Recipe Box
  • Three Ring Binder with baseball card holder inserts
  • Accordian style File Folder with dividers
  • Shoe Boxes
  • Envelopes
  • 4x6 photo albums
  • Baby Wipe Box
Okay so how do I organize my coupons in these devices?
  • Recipe Box - You’ll need divider cards for your recipe box. You can purchase index cards or simply make them yourself out of cardboard. These cards will represent different categories to sort your coupons. Everybody sorts their coupons differently so there is no universal rule. Here are some different ways to label your dividers:
    • Alphabetical by product name (GM, Kelloggs)
    • Alphabetical by item type (Cereal, Milk, Paper Towels
    • Alphabetical by General Category (Dairy, Meat, Paper)
    • Store Name (CVS, Target, Walgreens)
    • Expiration Date (this might work better if you only have a small amount of coupons)

  • Three Ring binder with baseball card holder inserts - this device allows a lot of storage space for your coupons. Many people choose this method because its so easy to see your coupons. Again, categorize them however you seem fit. Many people will carry around a dry erase marker to write notes on the baseball card inserts while they’re shopping. Just a little bonus!

  • Accordian style File Folder with dividers - this is probably the most popular way to organize your coupons. They come in all different sizes and colors. Again, you’ll need to choose categories that will make your shopping trips easy. In addition to simply choosing your categories some people go the extra step and have a folder for each store that they shop. It really depends on the number of coupons that you need to organize. Another option is to have an accordian file for “grocery items” and another for “health and beauty items”.

  • Shoe Boxes - you can use this method as you would the recipe box method.

  • Envelopes - this method works well if you don’t have a lot of coupons to organize. Some people choose general categories (dairy, meat, paper) and some people choose to label their envelopes by stores (CVS, Target, Grocery Store).

  • 4x6 photo albums - this method is similar to the baseball card insert method. You have clear holders to see your coupons easier. Again, sorting the coupons is based on your preference.

  • Baby Wipe Box - you can use this method as you would the recipe box method.
Thanks to A Full Cup for this information!
